Silk length, chrysanthemum damask
Vân — the damask figure woven into the silk; here the chrysanthemum the grandmother cut into the pattern cards.

Vạn Phúc workshop
Three metres of the cloth that gave Hà Đông its name, loomed by hand on the family’s wooden loom with the chrysanthemum figure from their grandmother’s pattern cards. Reeled and twisted in the courtyard; dyed in a small vat.
Enough for a dress, a long curtain, or the ground for an embroidery commission in Quất Động.
